Visiting Dublin for one day can be quite brief. However, it is possible to see key highlights. To make the most of your visit, plan ahead. Prioritize the major attractions and manage your time well.
While a single day may seem short, you can still enjoy Dublin’s charm. Consider starting early to fit in as much as possible. I’ll give a sample 1 day in Dublin Itinerary below to show you how to do it.
What is the number one attraction in Dublin, Ireland?
The number one attraction in Dublin is the Guinness Storehouse. Hands down! This iconic site offers an immersive experience into its history.
You can explore how the brewing process came to be, and even enjoy a pint. The Gravity Bar provides stunning views of the city. It’s a must-see for any visitor to Dublin.
What shouldn’t you miss in Dublin?
Though the Guinness Storehouse tops the list for me and my husband, you shouldn’t miss Trinity College and the Book of Kells. If you’re exploring the Temple Bar area, this is close by. Unless you book the Book of Kells in advance, you might have to wait in a long line.
Try to time it when you get off the bus in that area. You can even get a package to squeeze in The Book of Kells, Dublin Castle and the Molly Malone Statue. Otherwise, you might have to pick and choose what you think you’d like the best or decide to stay another day.

Yes, Dublin is a highly walkable city. Many major attractions are within walking distance. The compact city center makes exploring on foot convenient.
Streets are generally pedestrian-friendly, with clear signage. However, be mindful of traffic and pedestrian areas. Overall, walking is a pleasant way to experience Dublin.
Make the Most of Your 1 day in Dublin, Ireland
Though Dublin is very walkable, the best way to see the major highlight of the area is by bus. Catch a hop-on hop-off bus tour to take in the bulk of the area in a short span of time. I did this once in Boston, MA and it’s the easiest way to opt for a bus ride.
Here are some other reasons to take a bus ride:

- It’s also a good option for those who prefer a guided experience without the commitment of a traditional tour. This is personally the biggest reason why I love this option. I don’t like feeling stuck. I let’s you come up for air a bit.
Since the Guinness Store is the most popular. I would combine a ticket there with a bus tour. It’s the best way to capitalize on a short visit to Dublin with this easy hop-on-hop-off bus rides and quick entry to the Guinness Storehouse. You can at least see all the special spots and catch factual tidbits from the guide. then you get to decide where to get off and explore. You can always get back on the bus throughout the whole day and decide how to stay in a certain area and when to call it quits.
