NYC trip itinerary must do! Seeing the Rockettes perform in New York City is an epic experience to do during the holiday season. Whether you’re visiting the Big Apple for the first time or you’re a seasoned NYC traveler, there are a few tips that can help you make the most of your visit to Radio City Music Hall. From getting there early to finding good seats, here’s a list of essential tips to ensure your Rockettes experience is seamless and unforgettable.

What to Know Before You Add The Rockettes to Your NYC Trip Itinerary

These tips help ensure a smooth Rockettes experience. Knowing the best times and seat options saves time. Preparation guarantees a more enjoyable, stress-free show. Don’t make the mistakes I made!

1. Choose Seats Where You Get a Full View

Pick seats that give you an unobstructed view of the stage. The Rockettes’ choreography and light projections are best enjoyed from all angles. Moreover, a great seat enhances the overall experience of the performance. I was okay with my seats, but the technology is similar to the Sphere in Vegas where images are projected on the sides and ceiling. Additionally, I couldn’t completely see that in the back mezzanine.

2. Save Money on Seats

To save on seats for the Rockettes, try weekdays. Also, early morning shows often have better seat availability. Avoid weekends and evening shows for less crowded options. I went on a Sunday and paid roughly $80 a ticket. Grab some tickets before they’re gone.

3. Get There Early

Arriving early gives you time to settle in. Moreover, the website suggests getting there an hour ahead, and I see why. I arrived 30 minutes early and needed the bathroom, but the long line almost made me miss the start. Additionally, being late could delay your entry. You may have to wait until there’s a pause between scenes.

4. Find a Lane to Stand In

When you arrive, look for a designated lane. This helps keep things organized and moving quickly. It also ensures you don’t waste time wandering around.

5. Have Belongings Ready to Be Checked

Security checks are required, so be prepared. Large bags aren’t allowed. Also, keep bags open and easily accessible for screening. This speeds up the process and gets you inside faster. Personally, I would plan any shopping in NYC after the show. Maybe get small items from holiday markets or squeeze in other bucket list ideas in NYC.

6. Use the Bathroom Early or Go Before You Enter

Using the bathroom ahead of time saves you from rushing. You don’t want to miss the show’s start. Arriving early ensures you can avoid last-minute bathroom trips.

Radio City is also a beautiful place to hangout before the show.

7. Invite Whoever You Want – It’s Little Kid Friendly

The Rockettes show is perfect for all ages, even young children. Its festive, engaging, family-friendly atmosphere that features segments with the fabulous Rockette dancers, Santa, toy soldiers, adorable bears, a spiritual element and more. Kids will enjoy the dazzling performances and overall wow factor.

8. Snap a Picture on the Corner with Radio City Sign in Back

Capture a photo as you enter or exit the theater. The Radio City marquee makes for a perfect backdrop. This is a classic NYC moment that you’ll cherish forever.

Turning the camera to form diamond shaped selfie would have captured everyone plus the whole sign.

9. Have a Spot to Eat in Mind Before or After

Plan ahead about where you want to eat nearby. NYC offers great spots, whether you go before or after the show. A good meal rounds off the Rockettes experience nicely. I quickly went to the hot bar at Whole Foods near Bryant Park. That’s one of my best tips for how to travel with dietary restrictions.

10. Take Photos Before the Show Starts

Take pictures before the performance begins, as photography may be limited during. The lobby and stage are stunning to capture in advance. Don’t forget to preserve memories of your night out.
